Season 42 is HUGE Rank Reset, Free Skin & 8 Hero Updates

Season 42 is HUGE Rank Reset

Season 42 is HUGE Rank Reset is here with a 10th anniversary celebration, a new Popol and Kupa seasonal skin, eight hero updates, and big changes to the battlefield. Season 42 is introduced as the Starborne Decade, the 10th anniversary special season, with an announced arrival date of September 16th. If you are climbing now, your current rank, saved mythic coins, and event progress all matter for what you get next.

Here is a complete MLBB Season 42 preview covering rank reset, Popol and Kupa’s seasonal skin, hero updates, Mythic rewards and 10th anniversary events based on the latest available information.

When Does MLBB Season 42 Start?

Season 42 is scheduled to start on September 16th. Last season focused on Scarlet Embers with Harith, this season focuses on 10 years of Mobile Legends heroes, skins, and events.

The anniversary events and season rewards have separate schedules. Three activities are already running before the season changes, so check both the season page and the event center. For more updates like this, visit our Mobile Legends news section.

MLBB Season 42 Rank Reset Explained

The following breakdown uses the latest known reset rules. If those rules carry over into Season 42, this is where each bracket will start. The final in-game Season 42 rules need confirmation.

Rookie Season Exception

Under the previously covered system, eligible rookie accounts below Master avoid demotion. Once you have reached Epic and left the rookie season, dropping back down does not restore that protection.

Road to Mythic Rewards and Star Milestones

For the road to Mythic rewards, the latest known layout includes:

  1. Epic tier: 2 Rank Protection Cards and Epic season skin tag
  2. Legend tier: Additional 2 Rank Protection Cards and upgraded tag
  3. Mythic tier: 2 more Rank Protection Cards, 1 MVP Star Protection Card and Mythic season skin tag

Each card has its own task and usage requirements, so check the details on the reward page.

Star milestone rewards for Mythic:

  1. 10 Mythic stars: Season exclusive name card background
  2. 15 stars: 10 Mythic Coins
  3. 25 stars: Season exclusive profile background
  4. 40 stars: Star Prediction Card
  5. 50 stars Mythic Glory: Layout upgrade including season tag, name card, and profile background
  6. 100 stars Mythic Immortal: Shining border

Popol and Kupa Seasonal Skin and Border

The new seasonal skin listed in the advanced server notes is Popol and Kupa’s Flame Heights. The seasonal border is called Starborne Decade. If the usual match milestones are retained, the skin will require 20 ranked matches while the border will require 200 matches. Those requirements still need confirmation on the new reward page.

Mythic Coin Shop and Valentina Update

The previously covered Mythic skin price was 40 Mythic Coins. With 10 coins given at the 15-star milestone, starting from zero would take four seasons of collecting that reward to reach 40, assuming the rate and price stay the same.

If you are saving for Valentina’s Mythic skin, she is expected to become available for exchange in Season 43. If that schedule holds, you will need to wait one more season through Season 42 before you can get her. Keep saving your Mythic Coins and compare current shop options before exchanging.

8 Hero Updates Coming in Season 42

The announced hero lineup includes Masha, Bruno, Clint, Brody, Paquito, Badang, Kadita, and Luo Yi. The preview focused on visual updates. Masha is highlighted for a full skill revamp, while the scope is different for each hero. Eight revamps does not mean eight completely new skill sets.

Sanctum Island is also getting a visual redesign.

Battlefield Changes: Anniversary Effects

The official anniversary preview highlights three battlefield effects:

  1. Nowhere to Hide: Pick up vision that tracks and reveals hidden enemies within range
  2. Healing Turtle: Instead of the usual shield reward, an ally turtle joins the lane push and heals your team
  3. Golden Turret: Turrets get more HP, but destroying them gives your team more gold

10th Anniversary Events and Celebration Pass

The anniversary brings rewards beyond rank:

  1. Celebration Pass: September 4 to November 1. Progress can give you Nana’s new Epic skin, an Epic skin selection chest, and a random Epic skin chest
  2. Layla’s Stellar Gala: October 9 to November 19 with a minigame offering a chance to claim her new Collector skin

Work through event tasks as they become available, since the celebration continues after reset day.

Fragment Shop, First Recharge Skin and Gameplay Improvements

Fragment Shop rotation: Listed for September 17. Rare skin fragment additions include Estes Team Glide, Gusion Cyber Ops, Fanny Royal Cavalry, Roger Anubis, and Khalid Prince of Sand.

First Recharge skin: Season 42 first recharge skin is Wales Windborn WS, a Special skin listed for September 16. Recharge any amount to get the option to purchase it for 100 Diamonds. The purchase is separate from the recharge. A 20 Diamond recharge also gives a season first recharge avatar border. September notes also list a 7-day rename card for 50 Diamonds after recharging any amount.

Gameplay improvements highlighted:

  1. Dash lending indicator shows where your skill will actually take you
  2. Multiplayer training camp lets you practice with a friend with both players gaining access to training tools
  3. Targeting now considers effective HP including defense instead of just health
  4. Hero training lets you select a training hero through the season section with perks such as skin trials and star protection plus rewards from training tasks. Protection has conditions and does not mean unlimited losses without star loss
  5. Season achievements are being adjusted. Earlier test notes expanded carryover to include name cards, title plates and loading screen displays
  6. Survival mode now called Survival of Fortune. One recent update increased maximum player count from 36 to 44 and changed how reviving works, with interrupts possible

These are advanced server updates for now. In-game release dates still need confirmation. Wider rollout of the collection system updates and universal collector is still speculation for Season 42.
